Halloween’s Will Patton joins Swamp Thing series

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to review Boaz Yakin's BOARDING SCHOOL and I was very surprised at the performance Will Patton turned in as the titular Boarding School's headmaster. It was a hell of a role, and Patton recently followed it up with a role in a little horror flick you may have heard about called HALLOWEEN.

Anyhow, today we have word via Deadline that Patton is keeping his genre roles a coming as he has just joined the cast of James Wan and Gary Dauberman's upcoming SWAMP THING TV series for DC Universe. Patton has been cast as Avery Sunderland, "a prominent businessman, who serves as the de facto patriarch of his Louisiana hometown, always giving back to the community. His benevolent veneer, however, masks a ruthless determination to harness the power of the swamp for profit."

Based on the DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, and written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman, SWAMP THING follows

Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Patton joins the recently cast Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, along with Derek Mears as the title character, Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Maria Sten as Abby's bartender friend Liz Tremayne, Jennifer Beals as Sheriff Lucilia Cable, and Jeryl Prescott as blind fortune teller Madame Xanadu. The project hails from James Wan’s Atomic Monster. Wan, Verheiden, Dauberman, Michael Clear, and Wiseman are executive producers alongside Len Wiseman who is set to direct. Rob Hackett is co-producer.

SWAMP THING is set to premiere on the DC Universe digital subscription service in 2019.
