Hells yeah! Ridley Scott circling the Cormac McCarthy scripted thriller The Counselor

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Now that’s what I’m talking about!!!

A few weeks ago we let the great news be known that Pulitzer Prize winning author Cormac McCarthy (THE ROAD, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN) had scripted his very first screenplay THE COUNSELOR. Well, it looks like a highly qualified filmmaker may get the chance to bring Cormac’s words to the big-screen!

Deadline has it that Sir Ridley Scott is in negotiations to helm THE COUNSELOR, with the likelihood of it being his next film after this summer’s PROMETHEUS. Word is Ridley’s production wing, Scott Free, will jump onboard and oversee the project with Nick Wechsler and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz (THE ROAD).

I can’t speak for everyone, but damn, this is the kind of treatment McCarthy deserves. Only the best. And while Ridley is getting up there in age, he still makes quality films, through all different genres. Dude’s as masterful at his craft as McCarthy is at his…which makes this an ideal marriage. At least, on paper.

As only McCarthy can do:

Set the contemporary Southwest, The protagonist in The Counselor is a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation.

F*ckin’ stoked!

Charlize Theron, star of both PROMETHEUS & THE ROAD
