Idris Elba says there are definitely talks to make The Dark Tower 2

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

This past year we finally saw Stephen King's magnum opus novel series THE DARK TOWER hit the big screen starring Idris Elba as The Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black.

To say the movie was a disappointment would be an understatement at this point. Neither fans nor general movie-goers seemed to dig the (further) adventures of Roland Deschain.

And let's not even talk about the reviews.

But none of that seems to be stopping Hollywood from cranking out another go at THE DARK TOWER. At least as far as Idris Elba knows. The actor was recently talking with Radio Times and let slip that while a DARK TOWER TV series may not happen, there are "definitely talks" to produce THE DARK TOWER 2.

Idris Elba on THE DARK TOWER 2:

I think any TV series that is an offshoot from the film can have more time to explore some themes. I’d personally prefer to do another Dark Tower film, exploring some more of the gunslinger – as a film. I don’t know much about where they are with the TV show – but I think there’s definitely talks to try and do another one.

I'd be up for another THE DARK TOWER on the big screen. Elba and McConaughey were great and I'd hate to see them only get a chance to play the characters in this summer underwhelming adaptation.

THE DARK TOWER synopsis:

Based on the best-selling book series by highly-acclaimed author Stephen King. The last Gunslinger, Roland (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the epic battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

THE DARK TOWER is directed by Nikolaj Arcel and stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick, and Abbey Lee.

THE DARK TOWER is now available on Digital and hits 4K, Blu-ray & DVD Oct. 31st.
