IFC Midnight bringing Aussie horror The Babadook to theaters in November

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Jennifer Kent's THE BABADOOK has been struck with some high praise ever since terrified audiences at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, and now the festival hit is set to finally hit U.S. theaters later this year via IFC Midnight.

We've heard a lot of positive buzz surrounding THE BABADOOK and I've been excited to check this one out for quite some time. Now IFC Films will release THE BABADOOK November 28 under the IFC Midnight banner. Exact venues have yet to be announced.

Earlier this year we brought you a creepy trailer and a spooky poster for Jennifer Kent's THE BABADOOK, which stars Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman, Daniel Henshall, Hayley McElhinney, Barbara West and Ben Winspear and tells the story of ….

…Six years after the death of her husband, Amelia struggles to discipline her “out-of-control” six-year-old Samuel – a son she finds difficult to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both. When a disturbing storybook called “The Babadook” turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. And when Amelia begins to see glimpses of the creature herself, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may well be real.

I'm hoping that a VOD release will coincide with the theatrical release of the film. We'll keep you posted.

Look for THE BABADOOK to haunt theaters on November 28.
