The Arrow interviews Robyn Griggs
Once a soap star on "One Life to Live" and "Another World", then a Scream Queen in "Zombiegeddon", "Dead Clowns" and the upcoming "The Demons 5" and now the head Mistress behind the upcoming TWISTED NIGHTMARE WEEKEND horror convention, Robyn Griggs has been through many incarnations over the years, but three things were constants throughout: she's always been an intelligent, motivated and particularly hot lady. Here's Robyn!
ARROW: What’s your favorite horror movie?
ROBYN: Hmm, I love Phantasm, My Bloody Valentine, Subspecies, Halloween, the exorcist...geeez. I love them all!!!!!!!!
ARROW: You used to be a soap opera regular on "One Life to Live" and "Another World". How did you wind up knee-deep into the horror world?
ROBYN: I grew up watching Horror Movies with MY brother and I just always wanted to be involved somehow. I think it is really exciting and how neat to watch the fx artists and everyone get made up. It is great and being involved is a dream come true!
ARROW: You’ll be appearing in "The Demons 5" alongside genre icons Kane Hodder, Robert Englund, Gunnar Hansen, Cassandra Petersen, Bill Moseley among many others. What can you tell us about your role?
ROBYN: I can't really tell you much about my role. But I can tell you this much: this movie is going to be AWESOME!!!! The script is amazing!!!!
ARROW: Are you at all intimidated to be starring alongside such a slew of horror stars?
ROBYN: YES!! I mean, these are horror icons, they are the best in the biz. I am going to walk around with my autograph book, for sure.
ARROW: What was it about "The Demons 5" screenplay that appealed to you?
ROBYN: I think the idea is really appealing and also how they are approaching it, they are doing this very professionally and that is probably why they have such a great cast.
ARROW: You’re also launching your own convention in September (17th-19th) called "Twisted Nightmare Weekend'. What prompted you to dive into that aspect of the genre industry?
ROBYN: When I first got into the horror industry 2 years ago, I was booked at some conventions and I was told, 'Hey, you have a great talent for business and also for being an honest person, you should try this'... and here I am, I hope they are right...hahahaha.
ARROW: What can fans attending this particular convention expect?
ROBYN: What they can expect is a clean run show with lots of very personable people. One thing I do not tolerate is Divas. If you are a guest at my show, you better love the fans or you can leave. That is what it is about. The fans and telling people we will continue to make horror films :)
ARROW: Any crazy parties going on at the Con?
ROBYN: Of course! Would you think a fake blonde like myself wouldn’t have crazy parties.....LOL.
ARROW: What other projects do you have lined up in the near future?
ROBYN: I am playing the lead role of Delores in "Aberration Boulevard", "The demons 5", of course, and "Dead Clowns" opens in the UK August 23rd, I believe. I've also been cast in two films by twisted insomniac productions, one is a comedy called "Drunk", the other is called "Erie". Not to mention, I have a CD I have just finished with Matthew Jason Walsh called "Loves Young Nightmare".
ARROW: Any plans of one day writing or/and directing your own horror features?
ROBYN: Yes, I am currently working on my own horror screenplay, so far I am really enjoying the aspect of writing, it's like I can put life into my ideas, it's really neat and when I get an investor, then it definitely will have LIFE! I love very twisted moments and making sure it is scary!
ARROW: Your weekends...how would you describe them?
ROBYN: Right now my weekends have been filled with anything to do with the convention. It's weird to have time off to do this, I feel like I am doing something wrong by not shooting right now. I am really having fun, but I am definitely looking forward to getting back to shooting!!
I'd like to thank Robyn for gracing the site with her wits and her beg-for-ice-cream looks. Be sure to check out "The Demons 5" and attend the Twisted Nightmare convention...both sound like a horror hoot and a half!
