Is Sony finally going to start filming Ghostbusters 3 this Summer? Casting begins?!

May. 25, 2011by: Jared Pacheco
Could this really be happening? If FeatureFilmAuditions.com is to be believed then yes, yes this is happening. Personally I'm going to wait until I actually see some set shots before jumping on board but it seems GHOSTBUSTERS 3 is finally on track folks!

This comes in a recent FeatureFilmAuditions article that states the film is now casting for leads in Los Angeles and extras in Chicago, where the crew plans to shoot the film. According to the article not only is GHOSTBUSTERS 3 now casting, but it seems it's already got a start date of July 2011 and a release date of Christmas 2012. Apparently they're even saying Anna Faris has been cast as a 'young Ghostbusters Creative Commons.'

Now we've heard all this before so I wouldn't get my hopes up but what if... What if this is actually ready to happen? Are you still down for this shindig or have you already lost interest during the onslaught of 'it's happening-it's not happening?' I wouldn't blame you if you did. I would have lost interest a long time ago but then again... this is GHOSTBUSTERS!

A ragtag group of paranormal researchers reopen their notorious ghost removal service, and a new generation of Ghostbusters is brought on board to be green slimed and trained to contain the mischievous spirits.

Along with Farris the original cast are also set to return, which includes Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd. Ivan Reitman will return to direct a script from Lee Eisenbergand and Gene Stupnitsky. Jeez that's a mouthful.

So there you have it folks! A nice juicy GHOSTBUSTERS 3 update to help get you through the week. Personally I wouldn't put much stock in this until we actually see some shite start filming but to each their own. When more GHOSTBUSTERS 3 news breaks you can bet we'll be bringing it to you. No sense stopping now, right?

Extra Tidbit: Word has it even Sigourney Weaver (above), Rick Moranis and Annie Potts are down to return for GHOSTBUSTERS 3.

Featurefilmauditions put up this exact same article near the beginning of the year. Until I see an official press release, i'm not believing anything...
