It was bound to happen! Walking Dead parody currently filming; first cast announced

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I suppose it was inevitable. "The Walking Dead" is one of the hottest things on TV now so it was only a matter of time before someone saw fit to spoof it. Now Coming Soon is reporting that the parody film WALKING WITH THE DEAD is currently shooting in San Antonio, Texas, and we've got word on who will be appearing in the flick.

Based on an original script by Tim Ogletree (the spoof film SUPERNATURAL ACTIVITY) and directed by Scott Dow, WALKING WITH THE DEAD will star Jacqui Holland (STRETCH, MY BEST FRIENDS GIRL), Dave Sheridan (SCARY MOVIE) Joey Oglesby (FRUITVALE STATION), Sophia Ali (THE LONGSHOTS), and writer Ogletree himself.

“A month into the zombie apocalypse, a group of survivors, including four who “for safety reasons” go by the names of their favOgleorite cities–Green Bay, Chicago, Brooklyn, and Harlem–a Sheriff fresh off a nice, relaxing, six-week coma, his small-business-owner 10 year old son, and a voiceover-prone zombie, Romeo, who has convinced the group that he’s not dead, just a little slow, are forced from the safety of their mall-camp in hopes of finding a rumored safe-haven.”

Although spoof films are a dime a dozen nowadays (much like found footage films!), I guess we can only hope it delivers as many laughs as last years "Walking Dead"-inspired SNL sketch but won't skimp on some fun gore.
