It's Showtime for Seth Grahame-Smith as he teases Beetlejuice 2

2 years agoby: Ryan Miller

Writer Seth Grahame-Smith posted a nice little picture to his Twitter account today teasing BEETLEJUICE fans with the message "It's showtime…" In the pic, there's a figure of Beetlejuice standing in front of a computer screen with a blank page on it. Is the script finished or does this picture suggest that he's going to begin writing it very soon?

Unfortunately that's all we know right now but expect to hear some big things in the future regarding the long talked about second installment to Tim Burton's 1988 hit starring Michael Keaton as a ghoul hired by a recently deceased couple to drive the new owners out of their house.

I've never really considered myself a Burton fan but his vision of BEETLEJUICE that Keaton so amazingly brought to life was a lot of fun and I wouldn't mind seeing those two team up once again to bring back the character that everyone loves to hate.

Extra Tidbit: What are your thoughts on a potential sequel?

Michael Keaton could totally jump back into the role, but I've always maintained they can't bring the Maitlands back, because ghosts don't age, and Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis very much have. Meanwhile, Beetlejuice is so cakes in make-up it doesn't very much matter. Still, I haven't really heard Tim Burton talking this up much, so I'm skeptical of the whole thing until he signs the dotted line.

Beetlejuice is one of my favorite Burton films and I think it's one of his best along with Batman, Batman Returns, and Sweeney Todd.

Lame

Isn't this the guy that wrote that piece of shit Abraham Lincoln 'mashup'? If they have to do it, can't they at least get a real writer?
