GOD PARTICLE, a sci-fi thriller from producer J. J. Abrams, has been stuck in development hell for quite a while, but there's nothing that will shake a flick into production like a box office smash. Following the critical and financial success of 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE, GOD PARTICLE has been pushed forward by Paramount.

Julius Onah (THE GIRL IS IN TROUBLE) is set to direct, with David Oyelowo and Gugu Mbatha-Raw in talks to star. Oyelowo is perhaps best known for playing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Oscar-winning film SELMA, but he has also appeared in Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR and RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. Mbatha-Raw is a talented actress who has appeared in a string of films like CONCUSSION, BEYOND THE LIGHTS, and JUPITER ASCENDING, as well as the Dean Koontz adaptation ODD THOMAS.

GOD PARTICLE:

takes place in the near future. It centers on a team of astronauts who make a terrifying discovery that challenges all they know about the fabric of reality, as they desperately fight for their survival.

The film is set to hit theaters on February 24, 2017, so they better get cracking. Production is scheduled to begin in the second quarter. More on this story as it breaks!
