Jai Courtney is the new Kyle Reese in Terminator 5

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD’s Jai Courtney has been cast as Kyle Reese in the upcoming TERMINATOR reboot, which is tentatively titled TERMINATOR: GENESIS. Variety broke the news just a few minutes ago.

Courtney’s name has been attached to the project for a few weeks now, but he’s now officially joining Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke in the Alan Taylor-directed film, which will kickstart a new trilogy of TERMINATOR films. Courtney broke out on the Starz series “Spartacus” and has recently been in flicks like JACK REACHER, I, FRANKENSTEIN and the upcoming DIVERGENT.

Of course, the Kyle Reese character was originally played by Michael Biehn in James Cameron’s 1984 sci-fi classic; he was later portrayed by Anton Yelchin in the last attempt at reviving the franchise, TERMINATOR SALVATION.

Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier wrote the screenplay for the film, which Paramount Pictures will release in July of 2015.
