Jason is gonna be busy in the next Friday the 13th movie, says Fuller

The hotly anticipated new FRIDAY THE 13TH flick has been in the trenches for what feels like an eternity, suffering yet another release date setback as it was pushed to October 13, 2017. But in an interview with Variety, Platinum Dunes executives Brad Fuller and Andrew Form sat down and briefly talked about how the film is looking and how they plan to make the 13th FRIDAY THE 13TH a special occasion.

Said Fuller:

This is the 13th “Friday the 13th” and on some level that’s kind of magical that we are lucky enough to make the 13th “Friday the 13th” movie. The challenges are you don’t want to alienate the people that come to see the first 12 but at the same time you don’t want your audience who haven’t seen the first 12 to feel like I’ve missed out on all of this and I’m not coming to see the 13th film.

That’s where and why we were lucky enough to get Aaron Guzikowski, who is an amazing writer and who saw a way to bridge those two audiences and make a way a movie where if you haven’t seen a “Friday the 13th” movie you know exactly what is going on and if you have seen one, you are going to be smiling the whole way through because there are nods to everything that you know but it is not imperative that you know those things to enjoy the film. We have made plenty of Slasher movies and what excites us about this one is that our characters aren’t just meat for Jason to butcher. These are real characters which will hopefully make the bond with the audience that much stronger because you really care about the people in this film.

But here's the key quote:

Form: But when its time for Jason to do his business…

Fuller:…He’s busy.

Form: He does it and we will not let anyone down because when it is time it’s..

Fuller: It’s unrelenting.

Guzikowski is a solid scriptwriter, so here's hoping he delivers the gleeful Jason mayhem we've been waiting for. And if he doesn't, here's hoping they don't wait 8 more years to make another one.

Breck Eisner is currently attached to direct the film.

Extra Tidbit: What are you hoping to see in the new FRIDAY THE 13TH?

I don't really care what people say, but I enjoyed the remake. Lets face it it was waaaay better than some of the previous films. I really enjoyed it, and liked the idea of the underground layer he had created for himself. Hope fully we get some more stalking moments through the woods in the next one, as I felt we missed that in the previous one, and bring back the iconic music!

Ya know they always try to make these characters people we can root for, but it never works out. They're always shallow and generic, with one or 2 standouts, usually one being the final girl. As the other guy said, these movies don't take as much thought as their putting into them, just have Jason come back and slash his way through some annoying teens. And let's avoid trying to make him think one of them is his mom or whatever nonsense they did with the last remake. Oh and don't make him a

It's F13th, not Harry Potter Book 7 or LOTR

They are already overthinking things. How could they possibly alienate anyone and who doesn't know about Jason? They just need Jason (not hobo caveman from the shit remake) to kill teens who are fooling around Camp Crystal Lake. I like the writer they got but it sounds like they are trying to do too much. There is no need to bridge the 80s movies to this one. The 80s ones were practically different movies on their own.
