Jaume Collet-Serra & Bradley Cooper hit the sea for Here There Be Monsters

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

The last we heard on Legendary Pictures’ HERE THERE BE MONSTERS came back in February when director Brad Bird was eyeing the project. Well considering the news today I’d say Mr. Bird’s interest in the flick didn’t pan out.

You see NY Mag’s Vulture is reporting that not only has the flick potentially found itself a director… but a star as well! Apparently Jaume Collet-Serra is in negotiations as I write this to direct HERE THERE BE MONSTERS with Bradley Cooper eyeing the starring role. Works for me!

John Paul Jones is wrongly stripped of his British naval commission and hired by a shipping magnate to investigate the disappearance of his merchant ships in the North Atlantic. Soon enough, Jones and his crew suspect that it’s the handiwork of a sea monster and have to fight to survive it.

Word has it if Collet-Serra does sign he’ll touch up the script for an Early 2013 start date, with an offer set to go out to Cooper once the script is retooled. The understanding is that Cooper (above) would jump ship (pun intended) to HERE THERE BE MONSTERS after he’s done filming THE HANGOVER III. Collet-Serra is a pretty busy man himself though so we’ll see how far this goes…

What do you guys think? You digging the Collet-Serra/Cooper pair for HERE THERE BE MONSTERS? Be sure to spit some bullets below and let us know if you’re jiving with this as we wait for some confirmation on this one.
