Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds take aim in new R.I.P.D. still

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The supernatural action-comedy R.I.P.D. is scheduled to hit theaters on July 19 but the marketing of the Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds-starring film has been awfully quiet. We’ve yet to see a poster or a trailer for the Robert Schwentke-helmed flick, which is based on the Dark Horse comic by Peter M. Lenkov, and as recently as a month ago we got word that the film was quickly undergoing a post-conversion 3D process, even though production on the film started back in mid-2011. Will it be ready in time to make its July 19 deadline? With little-to-no promotion so far, does anyone care?

We’re finally getting a look at the first pieces of official promotional art as Entertainment Weekly scored the first still from the flick, which we have for you below. Portraying deceased cops Nick Walker and Roy Powell, Ryan and Jeff are seen in the image giving a serious look while pointing their guns at somebody. I’m digging the golden gun!

R.I.P.D. also stars Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, James Hong, Marisa Miller and Stephanie Szostak.

Welcome to the Rest In Peace Department — the devoted, yet dead, officers of divine law enforcement “patrolling the deadbeat…reporting to one boss.” Yep — THAT boss. Nick Cruz was murdered by an unknown assailent, at the height of his personal and professional life. Now he’s traded a hundred years of service to the R.I.P.D. in exchange for a shot at finding who killed him. Unfortunately his search will take him to Hell and back — literally!
