Jennifer Lopez is teaming up with the most profitable man in horror today, Jason Blum, to make the micro-budget thriller THE BOY NEXT DOOR, reports Variety. The film will be directed by Rob Cohen (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS) and distributed by Universal Pictures; this will be Blum's second film with Universal after this summer's very successful home invasion thriller, THE PURGE.
The plot of THE BOY NEXT DOOR sounds like typical FATAL ATTRACTION stuff:
Lopez will star as a newly separated mother who begins an affair with a new teenage neighbor who befriends her son. Trouble ensues, however, when she tries to abruptly end the relationship.
THE BOY NEXT DOOR begins shooting in the fall. Blum's company, Blumhouse Productions, has a handful of films currently in the works, including PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5, THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN and THE PURGE 2. Another stalker-thriller produced by the company, PLUSH, opens this Friday.
