J.J. Abrams sells post-apocalyptic sci-fi series "Revolution" to NBC

02.03.2012by: Jake Dee

Seems we're a little late on this bad boy, but for all you J.J. Abrams acolytes...here's the news you definitely want to hear!

News broke last night that Abrams has sold a post-apocalyptic sci-fi series called "Revolution" to NBC. The hour long drama is being described as “A high octane action drama from J. J. Abrams following a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist.”

As per usual with Abrams, dude's got a lot of room to work with inside those rather wide confines. Maybe this will clear things up:

“In this epic adventure thriller, a family struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology — computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights — has mysteriously blacked out … forever.”

More specific, sure, but we can still expect all kinds of weird viral marketing and cryptic promo material to come in the future, but first they need to cast this thing up. Word is "Supernatural" scribe Eric Kripke will pen, with Abrams a possibility to direct the pilot. We'll keep you informed as the series develops.

Extra Tidbit: I may have asked this before, but do you think Abrams is a better director or producer?

So pretty much every electrically powered device blacks out... but people are unaffected? I love Abrams, and I'm sure he's probably thought of an explanation for this kind of massive plot hole...

S.M.Stirling's 'Change" Series?

Sounds like this is based on that...could be good, if this is the case.

The initial bones of the premise reminds me of that webseries "Afterlife", just the notion of the power going out and life not being the same.
