John Carpenter's Halloween gets an all-new documentary this October

01.17.2018by: Mike Sprague

We have all seen our fair share of fan documentaries of classic fright flicks. But that doesn't mean I'm not always (repeat, always) excited for a new entry in the unofficial subgenre.

It is with this in mind, we're excited to share the news that Bloody Flicks will be producing an all-new documentary based on John Carpenter's classic HALLOWEEN.

The doc is being called FOR THE LOVE OF THE BOOGEYMAN: 40 YEARS OF HALLOWEEN and is eyeing a release this October to coincide with the opening of Blumhouse's HALLOWEEN.

You can read the doc's rundown below and then make sure to hit us up and let us know how excited you are for a new HALLOWEEN documentary in the comments below or on social media!

Rundown via Bloody Flicks:

This documentary is by fans and for the fans, chronicling why John Carpenter’s classic has stood the test of time.

Bringing together some of the brightest voices from independent horror we will explore what makes the film so special. From the music, the mask to Michael Myers, everyone has their own take on Halloween, and why it is the blueprint for slasher horror and in our humble opinion, has never been better.

We’ve already confirmed our first contributor to the project, Cruel Summer Director Phillip Escott, with plenty more familiar faces in the pipeline.

We’re aiming to release the documentary around Halloween 2018, and the release of the new sequel produced by John Carpenter and starring original cast members Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle.

FOR THE LOVE OF THE BOOGEYMAN: 40 YEARS OF HALLOWEEN hits Halloween 2018.
