The remake of HIGHLANDER is yet another of those projects trapped in development Hell, like THE CROW or THE STRANGERS 2, turning production setbacks into a seasonal occasion. However, there's good news on the horizon. A director has been attached, and it's a doozy: JOHN WICK auteur Chad Stahelski.

Said Stahelski:

I've been a huge fan of the original property since I saw it in high school. Such great themes of immortality, love, and identity are all wrapped up in such colorful mythology. I can't think of a better property that gives the opportunity to create interesting characters, mythic themes and action set pieces.

If this project actually goes through, it will be Hollywood stunt man Stahelski's third feature after JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 comes out in 2017.

Here's the plot of the original HIGHLANDER:

When Scottish clansman Connor MacLeod discovers his true identity as a member of a legion of immortals, he embarks on a legendary journey spanning continents and centuries, eventually landing in modern-day New York City. Connor faces his ultimate test when other immortals begin to appear in the city, leading to a titanic showdown where only one can claim victory.

Neal H. Moritz and Peter Davis are producing the remake.
