Jordan Peele’s Get Out invites in Catherine Keener

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

While many of us will likely agree the majority of Blumhouse’s productions are starting to get a bit stale, there’s one being planned that’s quite intriguing: GET OUT, the horror (comedy?) flick being directed by Key & Peele’s Jordan Peele. That funny fellow’s involvement in the project is reason enough to pique my curiosity, but now the movie has upped its game by bringing a superb, Oscar-nominated actress into the mix.

Deadline reports Catherine Keener (CAPOTE, THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN) has climbed aboard GET OUT, joining previously announced Allison Williams and Daniel Kaluuya. The film centers on…

a young African-American man who visits his white girlfriend’s family estate.

It’s probably not foolish to assume Keener is playing the mother of “white girlfriend” Allison Williams’ character, but since most details are being kept under wraps we’re just going to have to wait and see. Keener has given plenty of strong performances throughout her nearly 30-year career – I just watched her in HBO’s Show Me a Hero, which she’s terrific in – so it’s nice to see her lend some clout to this mysterious project.
