Jorge Michel Grau, who directed the original WE ARE WHAT WE ARE (subsequently remade by Jim Mickle) is currently at work on the English-language thriller BIG SKY, which has been described as a "neo-Hitchcockian thriller". The film is set to get underway this week in New Mexico, and the film's three leads have been announced.
First, the plot:
BIG SKY follows a mother and daughter who, on their way to a desert facility to help the teen deal with her paralyzing agoraphobia, find themselves attacked by a gunman. The girl has to fight her own demons for the duo to survive.
Kyra Sedgwick will play the mother, while Bella Thorne (apparently a Disney channel regular; pictured right) will portray the daughter who must find the will to survive the unexpected horror. Frank Grillo (THE GREY, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER) will be the male lead, although it's unclear at the moment if he's the villain.
Manis Film is producing alongside Killer Films, TBD Syndicate and Benaroya Pictures.
