If you're itching to see Kevin Smith's RED STATE this fall, you're going to have many opportunities. We've known for a while that it was scheduled to hit Video On Demand on SEPTEMBER 1st, but now Lionsgate has announced that the controversial film will land on DVD and Blu-ray on OCTOBER 18th. In addition, the flick is heading to theaters on SEPTEMBER 23rd via Smodcast Pictures; you can probably expect that to be a very limited release.

Among the special features on the Blu-ray/DVD:

- The Making of Red State documentary
- Audio commentary with Kevin Smith
- Sundance speech with introduction by Kevin Smith
- Sundance ending
- Deleted scenes with introduction by Kevin Smith
- Poster Gallery with introduction by Kevin Smith

Give the man this: He's making the movie available to just about everybody. (He's already toured the country with the damn thing, albeit with exorbitant prices.) The mission is yours if you choose to accept it.

Three teenage boys are lured to the town of Coopers Dell with the promise of a party. But instead of enjoying the night of their dreams, the teens are plunged into the nightmarish world of Pastor Abin Cooper and the Five Points Trinity, a fundamentalist group with a stockpile of weaponry and a deadly moral agenda. When word of the teens disappearance reaches the authorities, a military task force is mobilized. With Coopers Dell teetering between salvation and damnation, the ATF braces for furious gun battle with Cooper and his heavily armed followers in this fever-pitched action thriller from writer-director Kevin Smith.

I rarely...

blind buy Blu Rays brand new, I usually get them used. This will probably be the first new Blu Ray I've bought on a release date in some time...looking forward to it.

I dug the shit out of the movie.

I'll get it on Bluray, if nothing else, he loads his movies with special features since he understands that homevideo is where the movie truly lives.

I haven't liked any of Kevin Smith's work since Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I'm curious to see Red State though......

Is Red State any good?

VOD is the soonest rental option. I am not buying the DVD on Oct. 18 anyway.

But, is Red State any good? Or, is the film just controversial? Who has seen it? I liked Jay and Silent Bob, Zack and Miri, and Smith's Daredevil. But, I disliked Dogma and Clerks II (have not seen Clerks). Could someone post some rec on my MFC wall?
