Larry Fishburne circling the role of Jack Crawford in NBC’s “Hannibal” series

Larry the Fish as Jack Crawford? That could work!

TV Line has it that Larry Fishburne is in talks to join NBC’s “Hannibal” TV series, based on the characters in Thomas Harris’ “Red Dragon” novel. Word is Fish is circling the pivotal role of Jack Crawford, the agent-in-charge at the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI who is tasked with tracking down a certain flesh-eating serial killer.

As you know, Crawford has been played by utter heavyweights on the big-screen. Dennis Farina played him MANHUNTER, Scott Glenn in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS and Harvey Keitel in RED DRAGON. Therefore the task to make the character all the more unique is made harder, a challenge I’m sure Fishburne relishes. Of course, getting to work alongside Mads Mikkelsen as the titular baddie and Hugh Dancy as Will Graham ain’t too shabby either.

David Slade will direct the pilot episode of “Hannibal”, which showrunner Bryan Fuller says is planned for a 7-season arc. No telling when the show will bow, but it will apparently broadcast to some 60 countries.
