Lennie James, of “The Walking Dead” Episode 1, talks a possible return to the series

Alright, so we already know that Michael Rooker will be returning to the world of the undead in “The Walking Dead” Season 3. This marks his first legit appearance in the series since early in Season 1 (though he did appear as a hallucination to ‘Daryl’ in Season 2). But what about another long-forgotten character? I’m talking about Lennie James’ ‘Morgan James!’

So you probably don’t know who I’m talking about by name but if you check out that shot above you’ll see the man himself wielding a pistol from the very first episode of the series. Now we’re ringing some bells, right? Well the folks over at Digital Spy were wondering why ‘Morgan James’ has yet to return to the world of “The Walking Dead,” or better yet – if he’ll be returning. ‘Mr. James’ himself Lennie James responded to that question with the following:

“It remains a possibility I could return. The character I played is away for a long time, so it’s kind of up to them whether I stay away or if I come back.”

“There have been a few back and forth conversations and they check up on me every now and then. I had a fantastic time working on the pilot with Andy Lincoln and especially Frank Darabont. He’s somebody that I’d directorially always wanted to work with and I’m glad I got the opportunity.”

“Shooting the Walking Dead pilot was like making a movie. For a large part of it there was just me, Andy and Adrian, who played my son. We got Frank all to ourselves, which was fantastic.”

“There’s a possibility I might go back. It just depends on timing-wise if I’m free. At least one of the times they contacted me about it, I was busy doing something else, which I think was actually [BBC One police thriller] “Line of Duty.””

I suppose that’s understandable. Trying to match up schedules for an actor is almost always a pain. But come on… who wouldn’t want to get in on “The Walking Dead” at this point? My guess is we’ll be seeing James back in the world of the undead sooner rather than later.

“The Walking Dead” is set to return to AMC later this year and we’ll of course be keeping you updated on the show every step of the way.
