The Arrow's 7 Halloween horror movie watches!

Hey boys and ghouls and girls! Halloween is in 6 days and I've been prepping my "Halloween Movie Marathon" selection for a month now, yes I love the Holiday with no day off THAT much! Like most of you I am sure! This year as opposed to say the last 5 years, I decided to seek out horror movies that I haven't seen a zillion times and that I normally don't put on come Halloween... or ever. So crack open a beer and check out what I'll be tapping this coming Halloween! I got 6 picks, plus the morning after, hangover movie! So 7 flicks in all! Who knows, maybe some of my picks are the same as yours! Now that I'm at it, what about you? What will you be clocking this Halloween? Share your picks below in the comment section! Rock! \m/

Witchboard (1986)

Every Halloween, I usually go with Kevin Tenney's Night of the Demons (1988), I love that movie to death and know it by heart! But this year I decided to shake shit up a bit and go with Tenney's other token film Witchboard! I haven't watched it in eons but do remember that it's creepy, has stylish shots by Tenney, sports a hot to trot Tawny Kitaen at her lick-able prime and has an oddball chick that says TTFN (ta-ta-for-now). A good way to open up my Halloween horror marathon!

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)

I was initially going to watch Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 Director's Cut, but I couldn't wait till Halloween, and I already watched it (I liked the theatrical cut better for those who care). So I had to find a replacement for it and I chose Halloween H20. I've seen the film maybe twice, didn't care for it both times, thinking it was too commercial and Dawnson's Creek-ish for my liking. But this Halloween I will give it another shot. Hopefully the 3 or 4 beers I will have in me by then will help me dig it more!

Village of the Damned (1995)

Out of John Carpenter's filmography, this is the one that I have seen the least. I clocked it when it hit the big screen and never saw it after that. I remember thinking it was an average movie at best, with a way cool initial premise and that kind of felt apart pass the halfway mark. Lets see how it holds up today! Another reason I'm picking this sucka is because Michael Pare is in it. I'm set to direct him in my film The Shelter and I have been catching up on his career. So I figured I would keep this one for Halloween, perfect timing!

Halloween II (1981)

By this point I will be feeling real good, so what better time to slap on the original Halloween II, a film that I always appreciate more and basically rediscover after each viewing! I usually would have gone with the original or Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, but I've seen them both countless times. Halloween II, I saw a lot when I was a younger, but not so much as a poseur adult. If memory serves me right: violent kills, some boobies and a grab by the balls finale in the hospital! Hey! Good times to me!

Friday the 13th (2009)

So by now I'll be loaded and the Friday the 13th redux should go down smoother than a hooker on Prom Night. I've only seen the movie once, in Spanish at that (I was in Spain when it opened) and I have yet to see it again in full. I have the Killer Cut in my collection so I am expecting gorier kills and further display of Julianna Guill in all of her naked, soft-core porn like, perfect melons glory! I have a feeling I will dig it more on this go around!

Trick or Treat (1986)

Yeah, I know, I was supposed to pick films that I haven't seen countless times and that I don't watch every Halloween, but I couldn't do it 100%. The 1986 Trick or Treat is a tradition at Casa de Arrow on Halloween, one that I just can't break! It's a perfect night topper! A tongue wagging undead rocker, rape by Walk-Man, a rubber monster that pops up at the oddest times, a rocking soundtrack by Fastway, a full on 80's vibe (big hair included) and a cheesy fun times attitude that never fails to win me over! Oh and Ozzy and Gene Simmons have cameos! ALL GOOD! In my world, no Halloween horror marathon is complete without Trick or Treat!

Morning After Hangover Flick: Fright Night II (1988)

I know I will be bed ridden the next day with a killer hang-over. So to numb the pain, I will watch the 1988 Fright Night 2. The recent sequel (remake of the remake) made me want to watch this one again (I have zero interest in the recent sequel). If memory serves me right, the flick was fun, Julie Carmen was sexy as a bat out of hell and it manages to retain some of the charm from the original while telling its own story. Also, you can't go wrong with William Ragsdale and Roddy McDowal returning! I haven't seen this one too many times, so I am pumped to re-visit it!

I always select one movie to watch Halloween night (I do view scary movies all month in anticipation however). This year I'm going with a personal favorite Planet Terror. It may not be the scariest movie ever but its a ton of fun and actually a perfect atmosphere for a Halloween flick.

Love Halloween

I've never seen a couple of your picks (Trick or Treat, Village of the Damned) and just don't remember anything about another (Witchboard) but I can dig the rest. I thought, besides taking a hostage, the F13 remake was a lot of fun, even if it's never better than the prologue. I even dig H20, personally.

As for me? Two flicks have to be watched, Halloween and Friday the 13th : Jason Lives. After that I plan to catch two flicks I haven't seen yet, The Possession and The Conjuring. Then

Your choices are solid bets: Halloween, Friday the 13th, The Possession, NOES and The Conjuring, You'll be all good. For me I tried to chance it this year with films I either didn't dig or didn't see often, lets see how it turns out!

I been meaning to rewatch this as well. Maybe Halloween is when I'll do it. Yeah it could have been a bit more fun and the kills been more creative but I still have a blast with it.

I get it's a bit of a black sheep but I love it. I wish they'd release a blu ray with the original director's cut before it was re-edited and re-scored to be like Scream. Apparently this cut is more akin in pacing and dread as the original.

You're gonna need more than 3 or 4 to enjoy H20. I would probably watch 5 over it. Spot on with it feeling too Dawson's Creeky. It would be totally forgotten in my mind if Jamie Lee hadn't returned. How the hell can you have Myers with Haddonfield? It's like ham and no burger!

Cool

It's better than some Halloween movies. Atleast it went back & tried to clear up the mess they made with series. Plus you get to see Joseph Gordon Levitt before he became a big star.

Bangin' List!

Arrow, post on here what you think on the rewatch of the Friday the 13th remake if you could. Anxious to see what you thought of the Killer Cut. What with additional blood and additional titty time left in for good measure. In return I will finally get to watching Trick or Treat this weekend! My wife got it for me for Christmas last year and have been waiting for the perfect time and the time is here. Happy Halloween everybody!
