Lotus Entertainment acquires Jeff Buhler’s spec script Descendant

As a fan of Clive Barker's story that inspired Ryûhei Kitamura's 2009 MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, I was very pleased with the film adaptation. Sure, Kitamura did a hell of a job helming it, but a lot of praise should also go to Jeff Buhler, who handled the screenplay duties. Now we've learned that Buhler has something new in the works and it sounds like something worth following.

Lotus Entertainment has acquired the spec DESCENDANT from Vinson Films. Written by Buhler, the script is inspired by actual news reports and real life accounts. Tripp Vinson of Vinson Films is producing, with Lisa Zambri, Tara Farney executive produce alongside Lotus Entertainment, who are also financing.

Here's what we know about DESCENDANT:

Sarah and John Turner are overjoyed by the birth of their beautiful son, Miles. But as Miles grows older, he begins to show signs of genius level intelligence, which changes him in chilling ways, leaving his parents and doctors wondering if his talents are natural or if there is some other force influencing him.

Jeff Buhler shares what inspired the script and what we can expect, stating…

“I have always been fascinated by the concept of reincarnation, which is a widely held belief for billions of people around the globe. DESCENDANT explores this world in a very personal and frightening way that has never been realized on film.”
