More casting news for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Preacher pilot has come our way with Deadline reporting that True Blood actress Lucy Griffiths has joined the cast of AMC’s series adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult comic. Griffiths will play Emily, a no-nonsense single mother of three who is a waitress, the church organist, bookkeeper and Jesse’s loyal right hand. This news follows the recent announcement that Joseph Gilgun has been cast as Cassidy.

Here’s what AMC has planned for Preacher:

The project, from Sony TV and AMC Studios, is about Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God.

Colletti plays Eugene Root aka Arseface. Even with his horribly disfigured face and severe speech impediment, Eugene’s still the nicest kid you’ll ever meet who really looks up to Jesse. Stomach-churningly difficult to look at, Eugene’s the town’s reviled Frankenstein’s monster but that won’t change his earnest, sweet and pure outlook on life. However, he is troubled by something terrible he’s done in the past — something he fears may have turned God himself against him.

This one is really coming together quite nicely, but there’s still a question mark surrounding the show’s lead character, Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do what he says. It’s been said that Dominic Cooper has been circling the role, and apparently he’s still in negotiations to star, so it’s really only a matter of time before we know for sure. That’s all for now, folks!
