Mad Max: Fury Road to have three weeks of additional shooting this fall

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

If you've been wondering where MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is, what the status of the film is, and when we might finally be able to see it, we've got a quickie update for ya that should clear some of the questions up.

As we shared back in December of 2012, the fourth edition of George Miller’s MAD MAX franchise finished principal photography last December after a six-month shoot in Namibia and South Africa. But that’s far from a wrap for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD as it has recently been announced that the film will be undergoing three weeks of additional shooting in Sydney Australia beginning on November 22.

The film, which follows Max (Tom Hardy) as he encounters a war rig manned by Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) and her posse, will reportedly head back into production with its main cast onboard; casting calls have also confirmed a need for “odd, idiosyncratic faces” and “slim builds” to match its supporting roles, including an Aboriginal elder.

Warner Bros. Pictures has yet to set a release date for the action adventure which is directed by series creator George Miller, but we're hoping for a summer/fall 2014 release as this seems like the kind of film that could dominate the late-summer box office.

The film boasts a large ensemble cast that includes Tom Hardy as the titular Max along with Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Courtney Eaton, Josh Helman, Jennifer Hagan, iOTA, John Howard, Richard Carter, Megan Gale, Angus Sampson, Joy Smithers, Gillian Jones, Melissa Jaffer and Melita Jurisic.
