Mad Max: Fury Road's Abbey Lee to join The Dark Tower

The casting machine for the Stephen King adaptation THE DARK TOWER is finally revving up again! Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey (as gunslinger Roland Deschain and the villainous Man in Black respectively) are already lined up to star, but currently in negotiations to join them is Abbey Lee. Lee will be taking on the character of Tirana, the female lead.

The Australian actress is most notable for her role as The Dag, one of Immortan Joe's wives in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, though she also plays a major role in GODS OF EGYPT, the Gerard Butler film you're all anxiously awaiting. Her unique beauty gives her a very magnetic presence, and it's good news to hear that she'll be getting a chance to expand her filmography.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, THE DARK TOWER is planned to be the first in a series with a complementary TV series to follow. The film is currently set for release on Janaury 13, 2017, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

Extra Tidbit: Do you think this means THE DARK TOWER is actually happening?
