Magnet nabs Emergo, a haunted house thriller from the Buried/Red Lights team

We first heard about EMERGO, a haunted house flick hatched from the brain of BURIED director Rodrigo Cortes, back in October of 2010. A different kind of found footage movie, the film was set to utilize a variety of different film formats, including video, HD, 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm, to tell its eerie tale of people trapped in a haunted house. Now that the flick is wrapped, it’s nice to know we won’t have long to wait before we’re able to lay eyes on it.

Magnet Releasing has just nabbed the U.S. rights to the film, and aims to release it this spring via VOD on APRIL 27th before giving it a theatrical run beginning JUNE 1st.

Directed by Carles Torrens and produced by Adrian Guerra (who worked on BURIED and RED LIGHTS with Cortes), EMERGO goes down like this: A team of parapsychologists sets out to investigate a series of anomalous phenomena taking place in a newly occupied apartment. Telephone calls with no caller, mysterious shadows, extraordinary light emissions, flying objects, and exploding light bulbs, are some of the events they will face while recording their every step with state-of-the-art technology. Using infra-red filming, digital photography, psychophonic recordings, movement detectors, and magnetic field alteration meters, the group’s attempts to contact the “other side” will grow increasingly dangerous as they near a point of no return….

The film stars Kai Lennox, Michael O’Keefe, Rick Gonzalez, Fiona Glascott and Gia Mantegna (pictured below).
