Word is coming in about a really cool sounding project called ZOMBEX. The indie film is a horror/sci-fi from Zombex Film, Hardcharger Films, eleven:11 Films and Workhorse Productions.
Those names may not mean anything to you, but the cast will certainly be familiar: Genre favorites Malcom McDowell (A CLOCKWORK ORANGE), Corey Feldman (THE LOST BOYS), Sid Haig (HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES) and Lew Temple (THE DEVIL'S REJECTS) star alongside David Christopher, Emily Kaye, Pierre Kennel, Edward St. Pe, Desiree McKinney and Slayer frontman Tom Araya.
You may recognize some of those names as Rob Zombie regulars, and there's a reason for that: the film is directed and written by Jesse Dayton, who portrayed and wrote the music for Captain Clegg in HALLOWEEN II. Dayton is co-producing with Karma Montagne and Marissa Garrison.
The movie, described as a zombie throwback with modern intensity, is currently in production with a planned October DVD release. Here is the plot:
ZOMBEX tells the story of a post-Katrina New Orleans as it deals with a new disaster, a zombie apocalypse. Gone is the depression and post-traumatic stress of the hurricane, thanks to the revolutionary ZOMBEX, a rogue, yet, "clinically-proven" anti-depressant pharmaceutical manufactured by a nefarious organization. For the residents of the Big Easy everything is just now turning around for them. Or, is it just the anti-depressant ZOMBEX talking. It is. Just as quickly as the city seemingly turned around, it turns again. Only this time, turning NOLA's inhabitants into the city's walking dead.
Speaking of Rob Zombie regulars, here's his wife, Sheri Moon
