Mama’s Jessica Chastain in final negotiations for del Toro’s Crimson Peak

Yesterday we shared the news that Benedict Cumberbatch was the latest name to board Guillermo del Toro’s CRIMSON PEAK, joining the already announced Emma Stone and Charlie Hunnam for the haunted house thriller, and today Variety is reporting that MAMA star Jessica Chastain is now in final negotiations to join the project.

Legendary will produce and be a participating financing partner on the movie, with Universal Pictures retaining an option to finance at a later date. The film is set to begin shooting in February 2014. Plot details are unknown at this time as del Toro and Lucinda Coxon work through a rewrite on a script del Toro and Matthew Robins originally penned.

If the deal is signed CRIMSON PEAK will reteam Chastain with del Toro, who exec produced the horror film MAMA, in which she starred.
