Back in December, it was announced that Syfy was teaming with XLrator Media and Mario Van Peebles' company MVPTV to create a New Orleans-set supernatural drama series called Superstition. Now that the show has started filming in Conyers, Georgia, the names of its cast members have been revealed.

Superstition will star Robinne Lee (pictured above), Brad James, W. Earl Brown, Demetria McKinney, Diamond Dallas Page, Morgana Van Peebles, T.C. Carter, and Tatiana Lia Zappardino. In addition to writing and directing some episodes and producing the series, Mario Van Peebles will also be appearing on the show.

The series will follow

the Hastings family, longtime owners of the only funeral home and graveyard in southern burg La Rochelle. In addition to providing services for all faiths, the family specializes in handling “afterlife care” for unexplained deaths at the hands of demonic ‘Infernals,’ as well as other unworldly phenomena that have long haunted the town. Over the years, the Hastings have developed a skill-set in the dark arts to help combat this Infernal problem. Using arcane weaponry, brute strength, mystical alchemy and a deep knowledge of the occult and ancient lore, they quell the evil within the shadows.

Van Peebles' fellow producers are Barry Gordon and Mitchell Galin. Laurence Andries is executive producing, with Joel Anderson Thompson serving as showrunner.

Gordon says that Superstition is created and produced by people who "love and appreciate intelligent, well-crafted genre content". Van Peebles, who recently directed USS INDIANAPOLIS: MEN OF COURAGE, says that this series will be "some of the most creative, exciting, and boundary-pushing work of my career."

Superstition sounds interesting and those involved with the making of it are saying some promising things, so it seems like this show will be worth checking out when it reaches Syfy airwaves this fall. Outside of the U.S., the series will be premiering on the Netflix streaming service.
