Lakeshore Entertainment and Lionsgate have announced that Michael Pena (END OF WATCH) has joined their supernatural thriller THE VATICAN TAPES, which is being helmed by CRANK co-director Mark Neveldine.

In addition to Pena, THE VATICAN TAPES will star Djimon Honsou, Dougray Scott, Kathleen Robertson, Peter Andersson, John Patrick Amedori, Alex Sparrow and Olivia Dudley.

THE VATICAN TAPES follows the haunting tale of 27 year-old Angela Holmes (Dudley), who accidentally cuts her finger and ends up in the emergency room. Infection leads to erratic behavior, and she begins to have a devastating effect on anyone close, causing serious injury and death. Priests examine Holmes and believe she is possessed, but when the Vatican is called upon to exorcise the demon, the possession proves to be an ancient satanic force more powerful than they imagined.

Pena will play one of the priests who is initially confronted with the evil that possesses Angela Holmes.

Filming gets underway on THE VATICAN TAPES next month; it will come out Fall 2014.
