The long-gestating remake of Pascal Laugier’s MARTYRS seems to finally be moving forward as the folks at Fantastic Fest have shared an early sales poster out of Berlin’s EFM that reveal the production companies working to bring it to the screen as well as who will be taking the helm on what is being billed as "The Ultimate Horror Movie".

Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions is teaming with The Safran Company to bring us the remake of MARTYRS, and The Goetz Brothers (SCENIC ROUTE) have been tapped to direct. Check out the sales art below:

Pascal's 2008 original was an intense tale about….

A young woman's quest for revenge against the people who kidnapped and tormented her as a child leads her and a friend, who is also a victim of child abuse, on a terrifying journey into a living hell of depravity.

The claim that the MARTYRS remake will be "The Ultimate Horror Movie" will be hard to deliver on, especially if they're planning a theatrical release for the film. The original was certainly one of the most violent and disturbing films I've ever seen and will be hard to top in its relentlessness. Here's hoping The Goetz Brothers can bring us something unique with their take on the tale.
