THE CELLAR, the claustrophobic thriller from Paramount Insurge and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot production company, has abducted another actor. John Gallagher Jr., best known for his recurring role on HBO’s “The Newsroom”, has joined Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman in the film, according to Variety.

The majority of the movie takes place in an underground cellar, and revolves around a young woman who wakes up in the cellar after a severe car accident and fears she has been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, tells her he saved her life and that there has been a terrible chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. She does not know what to believe and as tensions rise, she decides she must escape, regardless of the terrors that await outside.

No word on what kind of character Gallagher Jr. will portray.

Abrams is producing, while Dan Trachtenberg is directing from a screenplay penned by Dan Casey, Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken. The budget is reportedly under $5 million.
