Meir Zarchi, Camille Keaton return for direct sequel to I Spit on Your Grave

Meir Zarchi's 1978 rape-revenge cult classic I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE is now set to see a direct sequel titled I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE: DEJA VU which finds Zarchi returning to helm and Camille Keaton coming back to star.

Dread Central is reporting that I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE: DEJA VU is a sequel written by Zarchi that shares characters as well as continuity with his original 1978 cult classic DAY OF THE WOMAN, aka I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, and has no ties with the 2010 Steven R. Monroe-directed remake or its 2013 sequel. Chad Ferrin (SOMEONE'S KNOCKING AT THE DOOR) and Terry Zarchi are producing with Meir once again in the director's chair. Here’s the official synopsis:

Following her rape, Jennifer Hills wrote a best-selling account of her ordeal and of the controversial trial in which she was accused of taking the law into her own hands and brutally killing her assailants. In the small town where the rape and revenge took place, the relatives of the four rapists she killed are furious that the court declared her not guilty and resolve to take justice into their own hands.

It's interesting to me to hear that Zarchi wants to do a direct sequel to his original classic, and bringing back Camille Keaton to star makes the project even more intriguing. This project has nothing to do with Anchor Bay or CineTel Films (who brought us the remake and its sequel), and there is no word yet on who will be handling the film once it is complete.

So how does this news hit ya? Are you down for a sequel to the original I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE? Sound off with your thoughts below.
