Michael Bay wants to direct his own self-financed horror flick

We all know Michael Bay as the director behind all sorts of explosive blockbuster flicks, and while he has never taken his directing skills behind the camera of a horror film, that doesn't mean he's never thought about making one. Recently, in an article on THR highlighting today's "masters of horror" they spoke with various contributors to the genre where Bay revealed, “I have a great fantasy — that I will probably make a reality — of directing my own self-financed horror movie”. He also added,  “I love this genre because the movie is the star.”

While Bay himself has never directed a horror flick, he is certainly no stranger to the genre as he is one of the central producers at Platinum Dunes, the company that has delivered plenty of horror remakes over the years with titles like FRIDAY THE 13TH, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and THE AMITYVILLE HORROR. I don't know about you guys, but I kind of like the idea of Bay tackling the horror genre. He would be taking a step outside of his comfort zone and that could be exactly what he needs to deliver a solid horror film—and we could definitely use more of those!

Bay sure has great sense of visual style and I'm curious what he can do with Horror genre.

As long as he doesn't write it, I'm there! I like him as a director (he has a great eye), but I don't like him as a screenwriter.

I for one like Bay's films. I know a lot of people hate his stuff, but I don't. I really agree with his statement too. I love this genre because the movie is the star. That is so true, because usually in horror films we have mostly unknown actors in the roles, so the film gets to be the star. I'm interested to see if this happens.
