Michael C. Hall to lead Jim Mickle's Cold in July

May. 30, 2013by: Eric Walkuski

Jim Mickle's long in development COLD IN JULY finally has liftoff; as we told you last week, the adaptation of Joe Lansdale's revenge thriller has financing in place and is ready to burst forward. And it does just that today with the casting of Dexter himself, Michael C. Hall.

First, here's a refresher on the plot of COLD IN JULY:

To kill a man, even in self-defence, is no easy thing for a man with a conscience. He has to answer to himself, put the episode behind him, get on with his life. This is very difficult when the dead man's father, a murderous ex-con, is determined to avenge the shooting, no matter what the rights and wrongs. Richard Dane is a small businessman, a family man with a son of his own. Ben Russell, the ex-con, has a very simple proposition: an eye for an eye, a son for a son. But the truth is anything but simple, and before long Dane and Russell, misled and manipulated, are awkward allies in a living nightmare of paranoia and psychopathic sex, violence and corruption.

Hall will play Richard, the family man who finds his entire existence changed when he kills a vengeful ex-con's son.

Adapted by Mickle's frequent collaborator Nick Damici (STAKE LAND) and Mickle, the film is being produced by Belladonna Productions Rene Bastian, Adam Folk, and Linda Moran.
