Michelle Hurd joins Ash vs. Evil Dead as a former sweetheart

It's looking like the second season of the awesome Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead is going to be giving us a good amount of information on the pre-Deadite past of our chainsaw-handed hero. It has already been announced that Lee Majors and Ted Raimi are joining the cast of the show as Ash's father and childhood best friend, respectively, and now it has been revealed that we'll also be meeting a lucky lady who was romanced Ash in the days before Linda, the girlfriend he went on that ill-fated "cabin in the woods" vacation with in the original THE EVIL DEAD.

Michelle Hurd, whose credits including the Marvel/Netflix series Jessica Jones, I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE: VENGEANCE IS MINE, The Glades, ER, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and more than 50 other projects, has signed on to play Ash's high school sweetheart.

The Ash vs. Evil Dead synopsis:

Ash has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead until a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind and Ash becomes mankind's only hope.

Cast members returning for the second season include Lucy Lawless as Ruby, Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, and Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell.

And, of course, Bruce Campbell will be back as Ash.

Season two of Ash vs. Evil Dead is expected to premiere on Starz this fall.
