Monsterfoot developing 'The Avengers' of Horror with Monster X

Have you ever wondered what THE AVENGERS would have been like if instead of super heros, it was classic monsters? No neither had I but it looks like someone already has and it's called MONSTER X. THR reports, the idea is to take 10 of horror's most classic cinematic monsters — hence the name, MONSTER X — and team them up to "defend humanity against an even greater threat to them all."

Monsterfoot principal Ahmet Zappa co-wrote the initial script with the plan to further develop it before shopping it out to buyers. Okay, so let me get this straight. They are going to team up Dracula, Frankenstein's creature, Mr. Hyde and others to fight something more evil than themselves? What could possibly be worse than a team of those guys? I feel like this idea sounds much better on paper than it would translating to the big-screen. The reason why THE AVENGERS was so successful was because its the f*cking AVENGERS, I can't imagine how this will even work.

Right now this is in its infant stage so we'll see if this even makes it past the developing process.

I don't know much about MONSTER X yet, but I sure do dislike the Horror Movie News article.

1. The graphic was stolen from the Universal Monster Army, which is not part of this project.
2. Monster Mash-Ups have been a thing since the 1940s (FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN), which ought to lend some credibility to this kind of movie. The writer of the article seems unaware that such things have been done before.

3. Monster uniting to stop a great evil has been done before in many

3. Monster uniting to stop a great evil has been done before in many different media. A NIGHT IN THE LONESOME OCTOBER, CREATURE COMMANDOS, DRAC PACK, LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, GHIDORAH THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER, etc. The writer seems even more unaware that these have been done before.

4. The 'extra tidbit' poses the leading question; Do you think this is a bad idea? It's very subjective, designed to provoke negative responses.

Come on, the concept alone is neither good nor bad, and shouldn't be the sole basis for dismissing the film's potential. THE AVENGERS worked because of the people who made it, not because it's the f*cking AVENGERS, otherwise the FANTASTIC FOUR movies should have been good, the HE-MAN movie should have been good, the STAR WARS prequels should have been good...

Just give it a chance.
