MPI Media Group snatches up 18 year old Emily Hagins’ My Sucky Teen Romance

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

The biggest catch with the upcoming vampire flick MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE isn’t that it’s oozing with potential, but actually it’s the film’s director – 18 year old Emily Hagins. Reason being is because Hagins is only 18 and is already turning heads in our beloved genre. And luckily for us we’ve just scored a juicy update regarding her latest!

According to Variety MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE has just been snatched up for distribution by MPI Media Group. MPI are aiming for a Spring 2012 theatrical release for MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE, which is Hagins’ third feature, and the first to score theatrical distribution.

On 17-year-old Kate’s last weekend in town, she and her friends plan to spend it together at SpaceCON– the local science fiction convention they attend every year. At the convention Kate meets Paul, a recently turned teen-vampire (who is also dressed as one). But when Kate tries to make a move on him, he accidentally bites her in the neck. Kate and her friends soon discover that Paul is not the only vampire at the convention, and it is up to them to stop the vampires and find a way to turn Kate back before it is too late.

The film stars a relatively unknown cast that includes Tina Rodriguez, Elaine Hurt, Patrick Delgado, Santiago Dietche, Lauren Lee, Lauren Vunderink, Tony Vespe and Devin Bonnee.

This thing actually created some buzz back at the SXSW Film Festival so perhaps we’ve actually got something worth checking out here? What do you guys think? Spit some bullets below and let us know how you’re feeling about MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE and be sure to keep it here for any other updates on the flick that might come our way, like a release date perhaps?
