Joe Dante, who brought us GREMLINS, is back at us with a new zombie rom-com titled BURYING THE EX, and today we've got the first neck-snapping clip to share with you ahead of the films world premiere at the Venice Film Festival next month.
I'm always up for a new flick from Dante, and while zombie flicks are a dime a dozen nowadays I'm hoping that his own brand of dark humor and fun will elevate BURYING THE EX to something more akin to SHAUN OF THE DEAD or WARM BODIES, two films I really dug.
BURYING THE EX sounds fun as hell, sporting a phenomenal cast of Anton Yelchin who finds himself in a battle with his undead ex girlfriend who is played by the gorgeous Ashley Greene. This first clip below gives me hope that this flick will be able to bring us more of the fun that Dante's films always seem to deliver.
BURYING THE EX follows...
…Max (Yelchin), an all-around nice guy, and his overbearing but incredibly beautiful girlfriend, Evelyn (Greene). Their relationship takes a nosedive after they decide to move in together and Evelyn turns out to be a controlling, manipulative nightmare. Max knows it’s time to call it quits, but there’s just one problem: he’s terrified of breaking up with her. Fate steps in when Evelyn is involved in a freak accident and dies, leaving Max single and ready to mingle. Max eventually meets Olivia (Alexandra Daddario), a cute and spirited girl who just might be his soul mate, only to learn that Evelyn has risen from her grave and is determined to get her boyfriend back…even if that means turning him into one of the undead.
We'll keep you posted on when BURYING THE EX will be making its way to theaters in our neck o' the woods.
