House at the End of Time New Line

New Line Cinema is back on top of the horror game, releasing flicks like THE CONJURING 2 and LIGHTS OUT this year. So now that they're comfortable with the horror brand again, of course they're going with the classic Hollywood move of remaking a foreign film.

They've just nabbed the rights to the 2013 Venezuelan horror flick LA CASA DEL FIN DE LOS TIEMPOS (THE HOUSE AT THE END OF TIME). Written, directed, produced, and edited by Alejandro Hidalgo, the film is Venezuela's highest grossing horror film. Hidalgo will be returning to helm the remake, following the footsteps of Takashi Shimizu, who did the same when THE GRUDGE was imported to America.

The script will be written by Henry Gayden (EARTH TO ECHO), with Good Fear Film's Chris Bender and Jake Weiner producing alongside Andy and Barbara Muschietti (MAMA, the IT remake).

THE HOUSE AT THE END OF TIME follows:

a mother who returns to the site of a crime that took place 30 years earlier and left her family shattered. There, she must come to grips with the supernatural aspects that led to the tragedy.

The original film starred Rosmel Bustamante, Adriana Calzadilla, and Simona Chirinos.
