New Line taps writing duo for adaptation of graphic novel Y! The Last Man

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Way back in November 2010 we learned that Warner Bros. were giving up on their adaptation of the graphic novel Y! THE LAST MAN. Well it only took nearly 16 months but it seems Y! THE LAST MAN is back in the swing of things courtesy of New Line! But that’s not the biggest part of today’s news…

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog New Line have already tapped a duo to write the script for this thing! The writing duo of Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia are in final negotiations to adapt Y! THE LAST MAN. The duo just scored Sony’s untitled ZORRO project so apparently they’re pretty hot right now. Now mind you they aren’t signed on to Y! THE LAST MAN just yet but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.

The comic centers on Yorick, an escape artist who is the last survivor of a mysterious plague that has killed every male mammal in the world. With his pet monkey, he sets out to find what might have wiped out the world’s male chromosomes.

J.C. Spink, Chris Bender and David Goyer are producing this one with Mason Novick and Jake Weiner serving as executive producers. I’m sure as soon as Federman and Scaia are finished with their script more news on Y! THE LAST MAN will spill our way. When that happens we’ll be right here telling you about it!
