New poster for James Wan’s The Conjuring delivers some bad noose

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Okay, sorry for the bad pun in the headline. But the fact is, a noose figures prominently in the new poster (courtesy of the film’s Facebook page) for James Wan’s THE CONJURING. Notice the eerie shadow on the ground near the tree. You’ve got to like the atmospheric simplicity in this one-sheet (even if it does elicit thoughts of SINISTER‘s effective tree-hanging visual); I’m guessing the next piece of art we see from the movie won’t be as subtle.

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

THE CONJURING stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor; it opens on JULY 19th in the US and UK.
