What does it take to bring characters from the Murder House and Coven seasons of American Horror Story together in the show's upcoming crossover season? Nothing short of the apocalypse – and the title of this season happens to be American Horror Story: Apocalypse, as revealed on some very creepy promotional art that has been released online.

The upcoming season, the show's eighth, is set in a not-so-distant future ("18 months from today"), and it has long been rumored to deal with some sort of apocalyptic event, perhaps the detonation of nuclear bombs. One persistent rumor claimed that the season's subtitle would be Radioactive.

Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Kyle Allen, and Joan Collins will be starring in Apocalypse.

Series creator Ryan Murphy says,

You will see so many fan favorites return (this season) that you’ll feel like it’s The Love Boat. It’s a very high concept. It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode five."

American Horror Story: Apocalypse is set to premiere on FX on Wednesday, September 12th.
