New trailer for Monsters: Dark Continent from producer Gareth Edwards

May. 15, 2014by: Eric Walkuski

With GODZILLA ready to stomp a mud hole into the entire world's behind, it's a fitting time to release the new trailer for MONSTERS: DARK CONTINENT. Of course, GODZILLA director Gareth Edwards' first film was the low-budget effort MONSTERS, and he acts as producer on its sequel, which is seemingly set in the desert Infected Zone.

I'm not too into the crafting of this trailer - could definitely do without the voiceover - but there are enough captivating images to raise my interest. What do you think?

Here's the long synopsis:

Seven years on from the events of Monsters, and the Infected Zones have spread worldwide. Humans have been knocked off the top of the food chain, with disparate communities struggling for survival. American soldiers are being sent abroad to protect US interests from the Monsters, but the war is far from being won. Noah, a haunted soldier with several tours under his belt, is sent on a mission: an American soldier has gone rogue deep in the Infected Zone, and Noah must reach him and take him out. But when Noahs unit and transport are destroyed, he finds himself with only a young and inexperienced cadet for company the brother of the man Noah has been sent to kill. The two soldiers must go on a life-altering journey through the dark heart of monster territory, accompanied by a young local woman to guide them. By the time the three of them reach their goal, they will have been forced to confront the fear that the true monsters on the planet may not be alien after all.

MONSTERS: DARK CONTINENT will be released in the UK this September; release dates for other territories are unknown at this time.

Extra Tidbit: Did you like the first MONSTERS?

Loved the first, but making the second an annoying American Military movie is surely to make this suck. like most American Military movies (Or should i say propaganda) of the past decade.
