New trailer for Ringu director Hideo Nakata’s Monsterz

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Japanese director Hideo Nakata—the man behind horror classics RINGU and DARK WATER—is gearing up for the release of his latest film, MONSTERZ, over in Japan on May 10th, and we've got the full trailer right here! And no, I haven't learned Japanese between the last trailer and this one so I still don't have the slightest idea of what's going on. It does look really cool, though, and Nakata rarely disappoints.

Here's what MONSTERZ is about:

A man (Fujiwara Tatsuya) possesses a special ability to manipulate others with just his eyes. Because of this special ability, he killed his abusive father and was abandoned by his mother. He now lives a lonely life in the dark side of a city. Meanwhile, Tanaka Shuichi (Yamada Takayuki) doesn’t have a family and lives with his friends. Even though he is poor, he has a bright outlook on life. One day, these two men meet. The man becomes confused, because he can’t manipulate Shuichi with his eyes.

The film stars BATTLE ROYALE's Fujiwara Tatsuya, as well as Takayuki Yamada and Satomi Ishihara. Dig on the trailer below!
