Nice! James Wan, Leigh Whannell, Rose Byrne & Patrick Wilson all back for Insidious 2!

Nov. 19, 2012by: Jake Dee

Here's some really comforting news...

The principals behind 2011 horror hit INSIDIOUS - namely director James Wan, writer/actor Leigh Whannell and primary leads Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne - have all wisely decided to return for INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2. Makes sense given the title though I suppose!

Also planning returns are Ty Simpkins and the great Lin Shaye, as is Jason Blum in a producorial role. Plot details are being shrouded, no surprise there, but the flick is slated to bow in the U.S. on Aug. 30, 2013 via FilmDistrict.

In case you shamefully missed one of the better horror joints to come about in some years, the original centers on a family looks to prevent evil spirits from trapping their comatose child in a realm called The Further.

Who's pumped for the next chapter?!

A Rose Indeed!

Extra Tidbit: Better movie: INSIDIOUS or SINISTER?

Insidious BY FAR!

Very excited for Insidious 2, especially since Lin Shaye is coming back! Guaranteed, most of the people who loved Sinister will NEVER make it through the film for a second watch without fast forwarding through 95% of the extremely boring film! It was agonizing to keep myself awake for the entire thing and I can't count to myself how many times I said, "Is ANYTHING going to happen besides Ethan Hawke watching old videos!?!" (Sadly, no... nothing does!") Everyone will realize in time that the

I haven't checked out Sinister yet but I'm glad that Wan, Whannell, Byrne and Wilson are back for Insidious 2.

God damn it. Can't they leave anything alone in this genre, as a successful standalone movie? I feel this is more a studio move rather than creatively needing to continue the story.
Awful, awful news.

I would like to see what happens next. Insidious 1 was very well-done. A continuation of that is most welcome.

ET: See both Insidious and Sinister. They will "fuck you up" (remember Crazy People with Dudley Moore?). However, Insidious is the slightly better movie. Sinister uses its soundtrack for scares too often. Insidious freaks a person out in other more skillful ways.
