Night of the Living Dead-themed comic Z-Men coming to the big screen

10.13.2015by: Eric Walkuski

The world of George Romero's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD has expanded with the comic book Z-MEN, which seems to tangentially take place along the same timeline as the classic film. Now, Lionsgate has snatched up the property for the big screen.

Written by Jeff McComsey, the plot of Z-MEN goes like this:

Its 1966 and the Oval Office is in an uproar; theres been a spree of mass murders in Western Pennsylvania (and reports of the dead returning to life). President Lyndon B. Johnson assigns the head of the Secret Service to send agents into the field to investigate. Agents Stuart and Clancy are given the opportunity to serve their country and see if the zombie apocalypse has indeed begun.

They're coming to get you, G-Men! Er, Z-Men.

"Were delighted to expand our relationship with our friends at Take-Two by partnering with their comic book arm, Double Take, in bringing Z-Men to the big screen, said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger. We continue to diversify our portfolio with films adapted from novels, video games and board games and look forward to translating 2Ts graphic novel into a spine-chilling film for moviegoers and comic book fans alike. It is yet another example of the strong underlying intellectual property on which our film and television content is based.
