Nightmare Infinifilm

Last Updated on July 28, 2021

Last month, we ran a story on what seemed to be New Line and their process of doing a remastering of the film that put them on the Hollywood map: A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. Nothing was announced by New Line, nor was there any explanation for the remastering, until now.

According to HomeMediaRetailing, the film that introduced the world to Freddy is being prepped for a special-edition DVD release Sept. 26 for New Line’s Infinifilm line of DVDs! For those who don’t know the Infinifilm concept, viewers enabling the option can access behind-the-scenes documentaries, interviews and other extras as they are watching the film, so the bonus materials can be seen in context while watching the film. The new set will contain audio essays with director Wes Craven and star Robert Englund; documentaries on the franchise’s origins and its legacy; a trivia challenge; and a making-of feature.

Unfortunately, nothing else was revealed in terms of whether this making-of feature would just be the old doc from the boxset a few years back or a brand-spankin’ new one. However, the good thing was that the cover art was available (albeit small), so at least you’ll know what to look for come September 26th.
